Because silica optical fibers are usable for a wide region of wavelength (0.2~0.8μm) and have very high transmissivity, they can be assembled to bundles for light transmission, which are widely used in ultraviolet curing, fluorescent detection, criminal investigation and evidence obtaining as well as various sensors. Actual products include:
1. High temperature sensing fiber: used for sensing at high temperature, e.g. in steelworks and thermal power plants.
2. Sensing fiber for printing use: largely used for color printing on plastic packaging, e.g. for chromatographic position sensing, esp., in imported printing machines.
3 Liquid level sensing fiber: used for liquid level contort in large tanks such as water and oil tanks and solar water heaters.
4. Fiber for measuring, e.g. in distance gages.
